Coming soon... Chef-level mac and cheese that you can cook up in your own kitchen.

Developed by enthusiastic amateur chef Chris McMurray, Mac & Son is a mac and cheese for adult tastes, with a creamy béchamel cheese sauce, tender elbows of pasta and crunchy toasted croutons.

Disappointed by the artificial look and taste of currently available make-at-home mac, Chris did some research and experimentation, and created a roux-based recipe that rivals’ restaurant-quality. The focus is on the ingredients.

"My aim was simply to make mac and cheese better. Mac and cheese is a feel-good food, and you don't always feel good eating it knowing it contains artificial ingredients. It should be quick, easy and delicious, and there is currently a lack of high-quality make-at-home mac and cheese," said Chris.

"I came-up with the idea for Mac & Son while I was making a typical store-bought Mac & Cheese for my young son. I looked at what I was making and asked myself... Why does Mac & Cheese from a package look & taste so much less appealing than the Mac & Cheese I can make from scratch or order from restaurant?" - Chris McMurray

According to Chris there something missing from every brand's list of ingredients when he started checking. He was amazed about what he found... or what he didn't find! "There's nothing in the mix that will create a proper sauce! It’s just a box of industrial ingredients, no matter what brand you use."

Real Sauce... Real Life Recipe!

Mac & Son is based on a real recipe, not food engineering. Products contain real ingredients including ancient-gain, organic macaroni pasta, a dried natural cheese sauce, crouton crumbs containing bread, butter, garlic and sea-salt. You simply add milk, butter and heat, to make a rich, creamy sauce that you won't get from current boxed offerings. Mac & Son is free from artificial flavors and thickeners, synthetic colors and preservatives, cornstarch, oil-based products and genetically modified ingredients.

Chris teamed up with Brooklyn Foodworks who shared their expertise on launching Mac & Son. He launched a Kickstarter project, which has exceeded its funding goal by over 500% and still has several weeks left.

Current flavors include Classic Cheddar with Butter Croutons, Parmesan Cream with Garlic Croutons and White Cheddar with Herb Croutons with more flavors coming soon. Mac & Son is available from $5 + shipping from the Kickstarter page. Try Mac & Son here and let us know where you would like to see Mac & Son stocked.
