In addition it’s great with chicken wings, pork, turkey, steak and even tuna steaks as well! I’ve even drizzled it over grilled veggies, and used it as a dipping sauce.
You can start with this basic recipe and then add more ingredients as you like. That's what we call a “Junk” sauce! Oh, a Junk sauce is when you need a quick sauce, so you start with something you have, then ya toss in a bunch of... junk! I must admit that my wife Ally turned me onto the idea of crazy junk sauces; she loves to mix things up to make her own dipping sauces.
If you have the “Sugars” - as we call diabetes here in the south - just use sugar free preserves and skip the brown sugar! Enjoy!
Kent’s Easy Raspberry Barbecue Sauce

- Dash of brown sugar
In a saucepan over low heat – add the raspberry jelly or preserves and stir until melted. Do not boil or over heat. Add about half of the barbecue sauce and a dash of brown sugar and stir.Remove from heat, taste and add more barbecue sauce if desired. Toss in minced onions, hot sauce, liquid smoke... whatever. Just make sure you add only small amounts until you get the flavor you want.
Chipolte Alternative: A dash or two of powdered Chipotle Chile Peppers - or chopped - is a great flavor addition for this sauce!
