What a hook! Cook This Get Laid is a blog and website written by my friend Mona Holmes-Nisker. She has been a LA-based healthy food writer since 2008.  (That's her in the picture.) Mona and I, along with a few other food and culinary writers, have a super secret... actually...a wide open and growing group on Linkedin for culinary writers. We are all about swapping ideas and offering mouth watering pats on the back for good recipes! Mona is the ring leader and Chief suggestion maker! What do you mean, cook this... get laid?
My blog shows men that enjoying healthy food can enhance your relationships with women. That's it. Nothing vulgar, just some straight funny talk about healthy food, tips, commentary, ideas, recipes and what it can do for you.

The truth is, many like the idea of eating well - but don't want to hear the word "healthy" and "food" in the same sentence.

When figuring out what would motivate people to eat healthier, I came up with Cook This Get Laid.  It's cooking/relationship advice for men.  Thanks to many years of dating, a nine-year relationship and five years of marriage, I realized what every man wants:  more sex.  If you're shocked, you should probably stop reading. But if you're chuckling to yourself, then you know the truth:  men are unequivocally motivated by sex.  And if there's any way to get men to do more about eating healthy, the best way to incentivize them is to make sure sex is somewhere in the equation.

A Really Truly Delicious Gluten-Free Banana Bread    

Gluten-free deliciously. Going gluten-free eight years ago was one of the best things I've ever done.  When I met my husband around the same time, he'd been avoiding it for years.  He was one of those people who spent his adult life sneezing and congested-until giving up wheat products altogether.  Unfortunately, gluten is in everything that tastes delicious: breads, pancakes, muffins and pasta are only a few.

I was dealing with some pretty serious health issues at the time.  The only thing I'll share about those problems is that that they're fully gone, and I attribute 90% of it to giving up refined foods-namely wheat flour.

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup of raw honey (Trader Joe's has a good one)
  • 1 tablespoon of Blackstrap molasses (has less sugar than traditional, not required for this recipe)
  • 2 mashed bananas
  • 1/2 banana cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 1 teaspoon of good quality vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups of Pamela's Wheat-Free Gluten-Free Baking and Pancake Mix (I get mine from Amazon.com)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions: Heat the oven to 350.  Beat together butter, eggs, honey, molasses and mashed banana.  Add remaining ingredients and fold together.  Pour into a lightly buttered loaf pan and decorate with sliced bananas.  Bake for an hour, when a toothpick comes out clean.
